Ah, Yumenosaki Private School. Probably one of the MOST praised school...in Japan, I'd say. It was a male-dominated academy, but that's not important. What IS important is that...it was never all that stable. It's state generally sucked. Some genuinely took pride in their work, and achieve that dream they're going for (as that's what "yume no saki" means), though most...were pretty lazy about it. Most students took on the attitude that if they were affiliated with the bigger units like Chess (which is now Knights) or RYUSEITAI, it would be easier for them to get a job in the long run. And if you worked hard for it, you usually got bullied one way or another. You might look at this and be like "Are the TEACHERS doing anything about this mess?" and honestly? No. They're being lazy too.
