FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH TRIGGERS: IT HAS DEATH AND A LIL BLOOD! eheheh anyways. It was supposed to be a suspense story and I used foreshadowing and red herring same characters from my book I'm writing but a dif au Redeem the Dead By Luka Lyn could only watch as her village was burned to the ground. Screams of pain and terror clouded her mind. A distant laugh broke her thoughts, turning to face the sound, she caught sight of the boy laughing maniacally. He turned to her, grinning widely he said, "You better start running." Pointing his hand at me, two large creatures came around from behind him. It was too dark for Lyn to see them clearly, but she turned around and started running. To his great delight, the red eyed boy grinned as the creatures darted towards Lyn. Another creature came up behind him and he grabbed the scruff and heaved himself on the tall beast. Kicking his legs into the thing, the beast bounded forward after them. The trees started to get thicker and thicker, it didn't help that the sun was going down. Lyn stopped, turning back to see if they were following, which turned out to be a big mistake. The two beasts slowly prowled towards her, then stopped on either side of Lyn. After a few moments a third creature came through the foliage with someone sitting on it's back. The figure jumped down, catching a glimmer of red in the dim firelight, the fire was long gone but felt really close. It was the boy from earlier. He strode towards Lyn, stopping but a few feet from her. He spoke in a low hushed tone, "Hello there, thought you could get away? Can't have anyone spilling my identity, can we?" Lyn just stood there staring at the boy, he had his hood up and his jet black messy hair partially covered those red eyes that always seemed to be glowing. He was just a few inches taller than Lyn, but to her it felt as though she was just an ant about to be stepped on. "I see. Not wanting to talk eh? Well then I guess I'll just have to," He broke off as there was a sound directly behind Lyn that triggered him. "No." He said with an unreadable tone, but his face said everything. Lyn looked up at him in confusion, as she could not hear the noise. "So," Lyn started but was cut off as the creatures turned to her and whimpered, one of them growling. "What?" She asked confusion evident in her voice. But at this one last word, the beasts turned around and ran, leaving Lyn with the boy. He tried to call out to them, trying anything to get their attention and make them come back. After a while he turned around severely disappointed to look at Lyn, who was rooted to the spot, struck by the oddity of the situation. "How dare you! You made them leave! What the heck is wrong with you?" He yelled kicking a tree in anger. "What did I do?" Lyn asked, looking at the spot where he had kicked the tree. "Everything." He said stalking past in the direction they had come. Lyn, not wanting to be left behind, ran after him. She caught up to him but keeping a few strides behind him trying to be silent, not wanting to be caught. "I know you're there." He said exasperated. "Um, hi." She said stepping up to be right next to him. He ignored her, "I'm Lyn, nice to meet you... Even though you just tried to kill me." Lyn muttered that last bit under her breath. He kept looking forward still walking, but he apparently heard it as he smirked. "So um, what's your name?" The smile on his face disappeared. "Not important." He said. "It is important, well then, what do I call you? How about Raven? You look like a Raven to me." Lyn commented, but again, he ignored her. "Fine, Raven, be like that." Lyn said. They kept walking for what felt like hours to Lyn, Everything looked the same to her and she wondered how he knew which way he was going. "So... What's your favorite color?" Lyn asked wincing at her own bad attempt at breaking the silence. Ignoring her again, he stopped abruptly. "Raven, what are you doing?" She asked stopping a few feet in front of him. He reached behind his back pulling an arrow from the quiver on his back, taking the bow from on his shoulder, he loaded it. Kneeling down, he aimed at the sky, pulled back on the string, and let go. It shot up into the air, something squeaked and fell through the thick canopy, landing to the forest floor with a light thud. Lyn stepped up to get a closer look at the small creature, she had to get really close to see it clearly. It was a small raven, shot right through heart. Lyn gasped and stepped back, turning to look a Raven with a terrified stare. "Stop calling me that." He said without any sign of emotion in his tone or voice. "Or you'll be next." Raven turned and continued walking, from that point on, Lyn stayed back. A few minutes later they reached a clearing, but it was different from the one with the village. This time it was a cliff edge, a shallow river sat at the bottom of the cliff. "Wow." Lyn sighed, the view was unimaginably beautiful. "Yeah. The Asund Hounds will come back here when they're ready." He said sitting down tilting his head up to the stars and closing his eyes. "Asund?" Lyn asked sitting down next to him and crossing her ankles whilst sitting in the same position. "Yeah, that's what they're called. Asund Hounds." He let out a deep sigh opening his eyes and then looking at me. "They're basically just really big raccoon dogs. They look so weird in the daylight, but don't tell them I said that." He chuckled a smile playing on his lips. Lyn giggled, "So you can talk to them?" "Yeah, well? Kinda. They're really intelligent and I picked up some of their body language meanings, you know?" He said leaning back and lying down, hands behind his head. "Cool, cool." Lyn said letting the silence drone on. It felt normal, at least, it did to Lyn. After a while a low growl could be heard from behind them. Raven shot up from where he was leaving Lyn in shock still on the ground. He cursed inching backwards. Lyn sat up and turned around to see a giant creature of a size at least four times Lyn's. "Fliegageng Fidi! Run!" He turned to the left and run to the left. Lyn left there still awestruck staring at what seemed to be a huge flying snake type creature. "Lyn, run!" He called when he noticed Lyn wasn't following. She stood slowly stepping backwards, not meaning to, but getting caught at the cliffs edge. Lyn looked down as she brought her foot back onto the ledge. The creature was keeping Lyn from going anywhere else at all. Raven cursed loudly running back towards Lyn, desperate to reach her before the beast could. Finding an opening he dived taking Lyn down with him, over the edge. With his quick reflexes, Raven had already found Lyn's waist and holding onto her, grabbed onto a branch penetrating from the wall of rock. That swung them onto a ledge, catching her breath, Lyn gasped. "What the actual-" Raven covered her mouth hearing the beast flap it's large wings. They were on the ledge with Raven on the outside, back towards the edge. He was facing Lyn who was lain on her back. "You good?" He asked, letting go of her. "Yes I'm fine, but you- you saved me?" Lyn responded, But before Raven could reply the rock underneath him started to crack. He looked at her with panicked eyes before it gave out and he fell. Lyn still on the bit of ledge leaned over and shouted, "Raven!" The Fliegageng Fidi saw him and shot a huge thorn at Raven. Raven tried to move, but because he was in the air, failed. Raven got hit right before hitting the river below. "Raven!" Lyn shouted again, this time reaching as if to pull him back on the ledge with her. A few seconds later the Fliegageng Fidi left, bored. Lyn quickly made her way down the cliff, as fast as she could go at least. Reaching the bottom she spotted Raven on the side of the river half on land half under the surface. She ran up to him and gasped. "Raven, oh- oh-" she knelt beside him her hands hovering over him as if wanting to help but not knowing how. "Raven." Lyn cried. He slowly turned his head and looked at her, opening his mouth to say something but instead coughing up blood. When he regained himself again he finally rasped out, "Yoru, my name." He smiled despite the pain. Tears were streaming down Lyn's face, "Yoru, I'm so sorry." Lyn said hiccuping. "Don't be, you were my first friend. Thanks." He said breathing out his last breath. Lyn sat there sobbing. Yoru had had died of a thorn through the heart. ehehehe, I luv dem angst🥦 Edit: fixing some formating issues due to copy/paste
