Rainy Nights (Frank Iero x Karter Melbourn fanfic) :3

The rain outside poured as Karter walked to the bus stop, using his cased drum pad to poorly protect himself from the rain. He sighed, remembering the bus stop didn't have a shelter as his shoulders dampened from each up and coming rain drop. He rested against the bus stop sign and closed his eyes as the rain suddenly stopped. He opened his eyes and quickly turned to find his bandmate, Frank, who cocked his eyebrow in his usual teasing manner. “What, did I scare ya?” Karter looked from the black umbrella to Frank's stupidly smug expression and sighed. “Kinda,” Karter lowered his drum pad from over him. “If you had an umbrella, why didn't you, like, offer to walk with me?” Frank laughed. “Because you were already gone before I could! You left practically the second it hit 7!” Karter realized that, in his hurry to leave Illi and Mikey's house for the bus, which would be coming any minute now, he completely forgot to say goodbye to his parents. He was going to get flamed for that next time he was over. Karter, Frank, Illi, her brother Mikey, and Mikey’s friend Ray were starting an alternative band. This was only their second practice, and they didn't exactly have a name yet. They were just making stuff up together when they should've been studying for their chemistry test tomorrow, especially Illi. They were all good friends, so it was easy to work together. But there was one small issue that could ruin their perfect band-ship. Karter liked Frank. Like, a lot. Not in a weird stalker way, but more in a love at first sight way that has never gone away in the almost two years he's known Frank. When he met the short, dark-haired guy in his Global 10 class during the first partner project of that year, being the only two without partners, and the only two “weird” kids in the class, it just clicked. As they got closer, Karter explained his true identity, which he already thought would ruin everything, but it didn't. Frank was fine with Karter's trans and queer identity, saying he knew a trans girl who, actually, now that he thought of it, was starting a band and needed a drummer! Your drum, right, Kart? God, that nickname made his heart unnecessarily flutter. Everything about Frank made it flutter. His attention was brought back to the present when Frank poked his side. “Ah! Hey, dude,” Karter giggled. “Stop it!” He swatted at Frank's hand. He retreated, a smug look on his face. “You're cute when you laugh like that; I just wanted to hear it.” Karter froze. “What..?” Frank just winked at Karter, which caused him to heat up, warming his cold shoulders caused by his rain-soaked sweater. “No, Frank, what do you mean I’m cute? …You don’t really call friends cute.” “What if I don’t want to be friends?” This little shi- “What?” Karter’s eyes widened; sure, Frank had jokingly flirted with the band members at least once, Karter included, but never anything like this. “I don’t want to be your friend, Karter. I want to be more than that, if it's fine with you.” Karter felt like he was going to cry as the rain fell around them. His biggest dream was becoming true. He wrapped his arms around Frank. “You're serious, right? If so, I…I would love that.” Frank smiled and wrapped his empty arm around Karter. “When do I ever say your full name, Kart?” Karter shrugged; he guessed he was right; he usually doesn't use his full name like that when joking. The rain usually sucks, but right now, it isn't that bad.
