Chapter for my fanfic TW: (some) fatphobia

House, Thirteen, Foreman, Chase, and Cameron stood outside of St. Bonaventure’s. House looked at the exterior of the hospital. “Jeez, this place looks boring.” He popped a few Vicodin and looked at his team. “Well, are the little tykes excited? It’s their first big field trip!” Foreman facepalmed. “Really, House? Can we be serious for one day?” House grinned and just shook his head. “Chase? Are you excited? Unlike Little Bill here.” House looked at the Australian expectantly. “I mean, it is new. And I think it might be interesting.” He sighed and shifted his weight. “But, can we just go inside now?” Thirteen spoke up. “Yeah.. isn’t the whole point of this getting to help work here?” House scowled. “Fine. We can go in.” They walked into the hospital. Suddenly they saw an autistic doctor by the name of Shaun Murphy. Shaun walked up to them. House grimaced, mortified that this man was playing pretend as a doctor. “Who are you, and why are you pretending to be a doctor,” he said, tapping his cane against the floor, annoyed. Shaun looked oblivious and greeted Dr. Gregory House M.D.”Hello, my name is Dr. Shaun Murphy,” he clasps his hands in front of him, and half smiles. House looked at him with his beautiful bright blue eyes, still mortified. Cameron smiled kindly at Shaun. “Hello, Dr. Murphy. My name is Dr. Allison Cameron. It’s nice to meet you!” She held out her hand for him to shake. Shaun just looked at her. “Ok.” Thirteen looked tired of the conversation “So, who are we treating today?” Shaun appeared to be perplexed. “I’m not sure. You would have to ask either Dr. Glassman, Dr. Andrews, or Dr. Lim.” House looked to his team before popping some Vicodin. “Well then, what are we standing around talking for then? Let’s go talk to Dr. Andrews.” They all walk to Dr. Andrews’ office. Andrews looks up from his paperwork. “Oh, hello, you must be Dr. House. We at St. Bonaventure’s are happy to welcome you to our hospital.” He smiles at House and his team. “So, are you going to assign us a case? Or are you just wasting our time by having us here?” House frowned at Andrews, clearly annoyed. Andrews cleared his throat. “You will be treating a 28 year old male who has chest pains, splitting headaches, and chronic stomach pains.” He handed House the file. House takes the file and hands it to Foreman. House then proceeds out of the office. Shaun looks startled and follows him, the rest of the team following in pursuit. “So, ‘Dr. Murphy’, where can we go to discuss this case?” House looks at Shaun. “I have an office that we can discuss the case in.” Shaun blinks. “Where is your office, then?” Shaun gestures for them to follow. He starts to walk toward his office, where Dr. Park is sitting at his own desk. “Hi, Shaun. Oh, is this Dr. House and his team?” He stands up and walks toward them. House pointed at Foreman “This is House, his team died though. Unfortunate. I'm just a janitor.” Shaun looked puzzled. “You introduced yourself to me as House though, and the rest as your team.” House shushes him and scowls. “Great, you ruined it. You fake doctor.” Chase approached House and crossed his arms “He's obviously a real doctor? Why are you discriminating” House took out his bottle of vicodin before taking 6 pills out and consuming them at once. “I'm not discriminating.” Cameron knits her brows. “You have been accusing him of being a fake doctor Since you met him. Now, can we please get on with the case?” House yawned, “Killjoy. Buzzkill. Party pooper.” Cameron rolls her eyes and turns to Foreman. “Can we see the file now?” Park speaks up. “Hey, can I see the case file?” Foreman raises his eyebrows and hands it over. Park clears his throat and opens the file. “Kurtis Stevens. Came in with severe chronic stomach pains, splitting headaches, and chest pain. He weighs 255 pounds, and is 5’9”. He is 28 years old, has no history of drugs or alcohol use, and lives alone.” He closes the file. “So, not much to work with there.” Chase looks sick by that. Oh god, he thinks for a moment. “Are we sure his health problems aren’t because he’s fat?” Shaun looked at him. “Technically being overweight wouldn't really affect his health that much, since he's not that overweight.” He looks off into space. “What if its abdominal migraines? The symptoms mostly fit, what with the stomach pains and stuff. And the headaches could just be garden variety migraines”, Thirteen said, looking at House. “Okay, but that’s boring.” House replied. Thirteen sighed. “Not every case is going to be exciting.” Shaun looked at them. “Let’s go visit the patient. We can’t cure him if we don’t see him.”
