Chapter 3 Journal entry #58 Dear journal, It’s after art camp. I’m sitting in my room waiting for dinner to be ready. Ive changed into pajamas and just took a shower. I have my biggest baggiest sweatshirt on, and my coziest shorts. They have some little stains on them, but I don’t care about being fashionable at home when I’m tired and don’t have the mental capacity to make a good outfit. Anyways, dinner is ready now. Bai! Gingie shut the cover of her journal with a snap and headed to the dining room. The smell of tomato sauce sprinkled with basil wafted through the air. My mouth watered as I entered the dining room. “Honey! Hi! I just wanted to let you know, Sage and her mom and sister are coming for dinner!” My mom said. My stomach dropped. A rock was now in the pit of my stomach. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. this wasn’t happening. Sage can Not come here. Not after what happened earlier. “Honey? You ok?” Gingie’s mom asked. “Yes!” Gingie lied. “I’m gonna go change” Gingie said. She rushed to her room and found a nice babydoll top. It was maroon and had buttons on the top of it and tied in a bow at the back. She put that on. Then she found a pair of plain black pants. She put those on too. She wanted to go formal, but not to formal. She quickly blow dried her hair and brushed it till it was glossy and fell into her natural wavy hair. She yanked it into a half up and pinned in a white bow. She was done. She looked in the mirror. This was definitely NOT how she would choose to dress but... She looked almost enchanting. Her hair was glossy and perfectly wavy. Her top swished gently in the ceiling fan breeze and looked perfect with her pants. She was glowing. She quickly spritzed in some perfume she had never used. Why was she going into all this trouble for her friend? Why??? Sage normally wouldn’t have this effect on her. Something was defenently wrong. She would figure it out later. Right now, she was hungry. She went to the kitchen and sat on the couch waiting for Sage and Lily and their mom. It was hard for Gingie to resist going and eating everything. Her mouth watered. There was a knock on the door. “LILY!!!!” Screamed Vivi running into the room. She opened the door. Standing there was Sage, Lily, and their mom. “Nora! Hello! Come on in!” Gingie’s mom said pulling them into the room. “Oh, it smells fantastic in here!” Said Sage’s mom. “Oh, thank you!” Gingie’s mom said. Ugh. grownup small talk. Sage and Gingie looked at each other. Gingie just now noticed Sage’s clothes. A white tank top and a jean skirt. She looked amazing. Her long and wavy brown hair was brushed to perfection. Just as Gingie’s was. Her light brown skin glowed. Gingie felt her cheeks go hot. Oh no, not again. She thought.
