Homework shouldn't exist. Everyone except school workers agree. (Unless the teacher doesn't like the homework either) So, students hate homework, right? Right. What if I were to tell you Roberto Nevilis, the inventor of homework, didn't intend for this to happen? Back in Venice, Italy, Nevilis invented homework as a PUNISHMENT for kids' lack of participation in class, or what we currently have detention for. This wasn't supposed to be for "extra grade" or "extra practice", it was for punishment! However, American schools don't seem to understand that. If you compare American schools to Finnish schools, Finnish schools have the upper hand. In America, they have 7 hours of school, and daily homework with roughly 30 minutes, depending on your year. In Finland, they have 5 hours and no homework, unless of course, the kid is misbehaving. They have around an hour for a break. ... ... ... Finland has higher graduation rates of over **93%**, unlike America, who's at a low of 75%, and maybe even decreasing.
