Shaun woke up, the bright chirping of one of his many alarms going off. He turns it off and rolls over to look at his wife, Lea. She was sleeping, a few strands of her hair falling over her face. He shook her gently. "Lea", he said softly. "Hmm?" She blinked sleepily. "Hi, Shaun." She smiled at him, her face lighting up instantly. Shaun felt a warm feeling at his core whenever she smiled. He got out of bed and went into the bathroom. He set a five minute timer. He then washed his face, brushed his teeth, and combed his hair. After this, his timer went off. He silenced it and set another. He then got dressed. When he was done, he walked out of the bathroom as the scent of freshly baked pancakes wafted towards him. "You made pancakes." Lea looked over and grinned. "Yup! And, I used buttermilk!" Shaun adjusted his tie and took a seat in front of his plate. "Thank you." He finished his pancakes and got up. "I'll see you later." He grabbed his keys and started to walk out the door. Lea grabbed his arm. “Shaun, why don’t I drive you to work this morning?” He stared at her. “Oh, oh no. You listen to music and the car and it is not good. I don’t like it.” He looked away. “Shaun.. We never ride to work together..” She looked at him with pleading eyes. He stared down at her and just blinked. “We can ride the bus together.” She groaned. “Shaun, I don't want to ride the bus together. You can go alone I guess.” He turned back towards the door and walked *** Lim was in the break room, talking to Dr. Glassman. “Glassman, we are having some doctors from Princeton Plainsboro in New Jersey to work on some patients today. I need you to make sure Shaun is on his best behavior because we are having Dr. Gregory House here.” Glassman’s eyes widened. “House? He’s known as one of the best diagnosticians in the world,” he said, looking excited. “Yes, I know, and I want him to actually want to do his job here. Dr. Lisa Cuddy has already warned me about his demeanor. And, I’m scared he will get bored or distracted if Shaun has a meltdown or something similar.” Glassman nodded. “Yes, I totally understand. I will have Park keep an eye on him.” Lim nodded, clearly satisfied. “Park should be able to keep him under control. Thank you, Glassman.” She looked up at him and held her hand out for him to shake. He took her hand in his. “When is Dr. House arriving with his team?” She looked at her watch. “In about an hour. I will be in my office if you need me.” He nodded. Lim wheeled out of the breakroom and went to her office. Dr. Park walked into the break room then. “Hello, Dr. Glassman,” he said, nodding. “Park. I have an assignment for you today.” Park looked at him, confused. “And that is..?” Glassman sighed, “I need you to try your best to keep Shaun under control today. We are having some doctors help out in the hospital today.” Park nodded, realization dawning on his face. “Yeah, I can do that.” “Thank you,” Glassman clapped a hand on his back and walked out. Park walked over to the couch and sat down, thinking about how to keep Shaun content for the day. Suddenly Shaun was in the break room. He sat down on the couch and Park greeted him. “Hi, Shaun.” “Hi, Dr. Park.” He looked down and rubbed his hands over his lab coat. “I heard Dr. House is arriving soon.” Park looked at him and nodded. “Yes, he is arriving today with his team. I don’t know exactly when, though.” Shaun looked off into space. “He’s one the best diagnosticians out there.” Park agreed. “Yeah, I’m pretty excited to meet him.” Shaun nodded. NEXT CHAPTER House looked at St. Bonaventure’s. “Jeez, this place looks boring.” He popped a few Vicodin and looked at his team. “Well, are the little tykes excited? It’s their first big field trip!” Foreman facepalmed. “Really, House? Can we be serious for one day?” House grinned and just shook his head. “Chase? Are you excited? Unlike Little Bill here.” House looked at the Australian expectantly. “I mean, it is new. And I think it might be interesting.” He sighed and shifted his weight. “But, can we just go inside now?” Thirteen spoke up. “Yeah.. isn’t the whole point of this getting to help work here?” House scowled. “Fine. We can go in.”
