It's a genuine need, not just a want, crucial for development and well-being, similar to needing food or water. What it feels like Deep longing: An intense craving for someone to touch you. Emotional distress: Heightened loneliness, sadness, anxiety, or depression. Physical sensations: May feel like restlessness, tingling, or an internal "lurch" for contact. Feeling disconnected: Difficulty feeling emotionally grounded or connected to others. Common causes Living alone or being isolated, Long-distance relationships, Busy lifestyles or technology replacing in-person contact, Growing up in an unaffectionate household, and Situations like social distancing during a pandemic.
