My OC Mei’s lore :] a lil long

There is a lot but I’ll prob add to it later when I connect the notes to the lore trust Mei was born on April 4th 1997. I chose 4/4 bc in Chinese/asian culture 4 sounds like the word death and it’s back luck. And the 1997 bc it’s the first year in gen z and stuff. Anyways her full name is Mei Frida Fros and she’s Chinese and Swedish. So there’s this war going on rn that effecting a lot of counties and the US is one of them (I haven’t been able to get a full layout of it yet) but it kind of broke up and divided many cultures and religions because of that in the 60s and 70s. And her parents have nowhere to go when they were 8 y/o because they no longer had sanctuary at the place they stayed. They were taken in by the priest in the hometown. Because of the situation, they needed to still fend for themselves, the priest is secretly corrupted but I’ll get into that later. So Mei grows up in a very conservative place, but because of the relations that her parents had with the priest and other people, he had a lot more freedom than the others in town. Because of that, rasicm and jealousy, people avoided them and because she had trouble controlling their emotions at a young age and wouldn’t teach her bc they wanted Mei to figure it out all by herself. So he becomes very isolated since no one would help them with anything and relies on the forest next to her house to guide her. Since her father is physically and emotionally unavailable and her mom is mentally unstable/unstable, from 11-16 y/o she warms up to being alone and is interested of the nature around her as a way to distract themself from his life. Key note(s) to add in later: - She went to go do a test in the woods to test their abilities, and ended up having to run away after hearing, Throne explain that out of all of the “towns” in the area they were the most cultist and that neither of them were safe, but throne was safer so he hid her in a den(made by him). - The black rose choker that her family/community wears has a tracker in the bud. The petals on the rose are individually sealed with resin and the bud is sealed altogether so it imitates the look of a glass rose. (Ignore the part where it tints to a yellowish color. That doesn’t exist in this situation). Since the beginning of the lore is set in 2012, the tracker works like a gps so the leader has track of everyone on a monitor. The monitors are set based on the bi-years(once every two ages) for groups. An ex. is ppl born in 2011 and 2012 are on the same monitor. The monitor only works within the state.it also has a microphone that gives feed on whatever you or the other person is saying. Only the priest and high assistants know this for smart reasons. The choker is made of (that one fabric that chefs use so they don’t chop their fingers off) so it’s very hard to take it off since it is bonded at 5 years old. - - In school, you start learning at 4 years old. Focusing on the alphabets (English and Grythelan). You must learn to use rituals as a daily part of life(I will bring this part up later). From 5-8 years old, you start to learn how to read and write simple sentences and spells to help prepare you. If you in high-middle to elite class, it is more likely to learn math and history. From 9-14 years old, everyone is taught how to honor the people you stand for and the deities you believe in. You will still learn how to do math and how this religion and group started into being “one of the greatest of all”. This is one of the only times that you are able to learn science and how science ties into the magic you learn. From 15-18 if you’re lucky or seen as government material, you will get extra privileges of being able to learn fabricated history and some outside view of the world to know what is ahead of you if you continue this path. One more is the beginning of sacrificial material and knowledge to give to the gods. If you are seen and average or normal, you will start to learn how to do middle-low class jobs (agriculture, mining, making necessities, ect). You are given a scarce amount of the fabricated knowledge the smarted kids learn as well as how to serve the higher level civilians. From 8+, you will start to learn one or two of the following languages, (Spanish, Cantonese, Italian, Latin, Greek, and Mongolian) as a way to speak in privately(at least more private) but elites and higher ups will understand them all so you cannot say anything else that can harm you or a plan to rebel. - Her maternal great grandmother moved to America in the late 1930s when she was ten, her grandmother born in 1950s, their mother born in 1970s. All of her relatives from those time periods only married other Chinese people. And everyone born was a girl, never boy yet they decided to keep them because their mother kept them. The great grandfather and grandfather is unknown. - Her paternal grandparents moved to America in the early 1900s but over the two decades were forces to forget their heritage as Swedish and Finnish people. Her paternal great grandmother was born 1910s and 100% Finnish, grandmother born in 1940s 100% Finnish, mother born in early 1970s 50% Finnish and Swedish. Only the the grandfather is unknown - “He held onto her as if she were a grunge, his body rigid and tense, as if he really didn’t want her there, and yet his arm were tight around her waist as though he had no intention of ever letting her go” inspo for my lil ship :) links into the ship by: when they first met, they started physically fighting with their weapons next to a cliff. Mei almost fell 40 feet but Thorne didn’t want vem to die, so he grabbed onto the tree next to him and hold onto her for dear life. Thorne also looked at her dearingly even though this was their first time encountering and thought of them as something more ‘future life flashed before their eyes’ Birds I think would fit into the story: - Black herons are messengers of good fortune and reflect the resourcefulness cleverness in nature - Blackbird are linked to sorrow and can be seen are harbingers of bad news - Injured doves symbolize lost in broken of unfulfilled promises which resenate w depression - Crows are seen as creative, smarter than average, and seen as transformation also fluffy - The strawberry finch symbolizes beauty, diversity, and vibrancy in life in Asia - Rock pigeons meant to send a message and symbolize peace purity and love - Extinct bird Mergus lived in various aquatic environments, was elegant and symbolized adaptation - The Polynesian sandpiper symbolized navigation, freedom and connection to the divine gods
