Solar and Fawn part 14

In the months after Solar's accident and his release from the hospital, a fragile ecosystem of healing began to form around him. He leaned on Fawn's quiet strength and Kay's fierce protectiveness. For the first time in a long time, Solar started to feel the light of hope again. Yet, outside the cottage and their supportive bubble, the world remained hostile. The online bullying, fueled by Lily and her friends, continued unabated. Fawn's social media campaign, while drawing much-needed attention and legal support, also put a target on Solar's back in the digital world. The bullies, desperate for control, doubled down on their cruelty. One evening, as Solar and Fawn were listening to music in his room, a notification popped up on his phone. It was a fake profile with a picture of a clown, a new tactic the bullies were using. The message read: "You think you're safe now? Think again." Attached was a picture of Solar and Fawn holding hands in the hospital, a photo that had to have been taken from a stolen phone or a hacked account. Solar's hand, holding Fawn's, went cold. His fragile peace shattered. "They're still here," he whispered, his voice trembling. "They won't stop." His sense of safety, meticulously rebuilt with the help of his friends, crumbled. The bullies had found a way to reach him, no matter where he was. The physical bruises had healed, but the emotional scars were still fresh, and the constant digital assault was like rubbing salt in the wound. Kay, who had been listening from the other side of the room, snatched Solar's phone. She immediately started blocking and reporting the account, her fingers flying across the screen with furious precision. "They're just pathetic," she spat. "We'll keep blocking them. We'll report every single one." But Solar was despondent. "It won't make a difference," he said, pulling his hand away from Fawn's and hugging his knees. "They'll just make another account. They'll never stop." The truth of his words hung in the air, heavy and undeniable. The physical assault had been a flash of violence, but the ongoing cyberbullying was a slow, insidious poison. He started to spiral again, retreating back into his shell. He stopped talking as much during therapy sessions, and his parents, seeing his regression, grew frustrated and scared. He started having nightmares again, waking up in a cold sweat, reliving the attack and the feeling of helplessness. Fawn, heartbroken but resolute, knew she had to take a different approach. She had seen how the social media campaign had backfired, how it had amplified the harassment. The legal action was a slow and methodical process, but it wouldn't stop the daily torment. She needed to give Solar his power back, in a way the bullies couldn't take from him. "We need to go live," Fawn said one afternoon, looking at Solar with a determined glint in her gentle eyes. Solar looked at her like she was crazy. "What? Fawn, no," he said, shaking his head. "Not in a social media way," she explained. "A private live. For us. For our story." That evening, with Solar's consent, Fawn and Kay set up a live video, broadcasting it to a private group of their closest friends and family. Fawn started, her voice shaking at first, then gaining strength as she recounted everything, from the whispers to the physical attacks to the ongoing cyberbullying. Then, Solar spoke. He didn't talk about the pain or the injustice. He talked about his journey. He talked about his transition, about finding his true self, and about the love he had for Fawn and Kay. He talked about his passion for romantic goth literature and art, things the bullies had tried to mock and destroy. He talked about his fears, not of the bullies, but of himself, of the darkness within. "I won't let them win," he said, his voice stronger now, more like his old self. "They want me to give up, to disappear. But I won't. I have Fawn, and Kay, and my family. And I have my story." The live video was a turning point. It was a reclaiming of his narrative, a way of telling the world, on his own terms, that he was more than a victim. The healing was far from over, and the bullies were far from gone, but Solar had taken the first step toward reclaiming his power. He had found his voice in the darkness, and it was a voice they couldn't silence.
