You don’t sound dumb, don’t worry. A paraphilia is an attraction to something, usually something unusual or abnormal. A paraphile is the person with the attraction. For example being attracted to objects is a paraphilia, that one specifically is called objectophilia. (Although some people say objectum, personally we don’t like this term but there’s nothing wrong with it.) Random fun fact, but did you know that homosexuality was once considered a type of paraphilia? It’s interesting to us to think about.
