Went down a rabbit hole -.-

So I'm working on my final project for a oceanography summer camp, right, and it's on hydrothermal vents and their collapse in recent years and during the PETM (paleocene-eocene thermal maximum, an ancient time where average temperatures were higher than usual). I was just chilling making a poster where I wrote that they collapse from earthquakes, because they are made along tectonic boundaries, right? Well, I just found a research paper that proves that the exact vents I am studying DON'T collapse from tectonic or thermal activity. I went too far down the rabbit hole and now I've made negative progress lmao. It's due tomorrow btw :) EDIT: So I just found on Nautilus that there WERE Earthquakes at my ACTUAL site, which is the Endeavour vent field, and YES, earthquakes break hydrothermal vents. oh my god, I just spent an hour wondering what to write because my class provided clues were suggesting seismic activity. its literally 11 at night. I gotta revise -.- That paper was way farther down the east pacific coast. At least I got my answer?
