It’s Called detatched! Hey! It's s0up, We (my friend and I) just wanted to warn you about possible scary themes, weapons, and just stuff in general that could potentially be triggering for people. There will be trigger warnings when these themes come but just a little warning so you know what to expect. 🙂 Detached. Chapter One Wake up call Axel’s POV Ring! Ring! Ring! My phone buzzed on my nightstand. I opened my eyes to see who it was. Carmen. Of course. I knew I slept in, and I was probably late for the meeting in the cabin, the place where my friends Miro, Corey, Torin, Midori, Carmen, and I practice for our band, Pocket Apocalypse. “Uh, hey. What's up? You woke me up.” On the other end of the call I could hear people talking in the background. “Axel, it's 10:30, you were supposed to meet us at the cabin 15 minutes ago. We were out of snacks so we are heading to Alfred’s to get some stuff. Meet us there, and please, be quick, I don’t want Miro getting carried away in the energy drink section again. He knocked over the tower of Cambell’s soup cans last time.” She sounded annoyed. A voice in the background yelled, “YOU’RE JUST JEALOUS YOU’RE NORMAL, CARMIE!” Carmen sighed. “Okay. See you there in like, 15.” I said. “‘Kay, see ya.” I jumped out of bed, put on an ACDC shirt with a pair of jean shorts, and ran downstairs to the kitchen to grab a bagel. I opened the freezer, and expected a burst of cold air to hit my face, but instead the light was off. I ran toward the stairs again and stopped at the bottom. “MOM, THE FRIDGE IS BROKEN AGAIN!” I yelled up the stairs. There was a pause, and a squeak of a swivel chair. “OKAY, I’LL TAKE A LOOK AT IT!” She yelled back from her office. “BYE, HEADING TO PRACTICE!” I ran into the garage, grabbed my bike, helmet, and money, and ran out the door. I sped down the road past trees and houses, and turned onto the concrete path that outlet to the store. I peddled as fast as possible along the pavement as I passed other people on their bikes and walking dogs. The pavement was rough under the tires of my bike as I rode as fast as I could, my legs burning. I had to get here as fast as possible before something happened. I knew someone would eventually cause chaos. Probably Corey or Miro or something. My bike tire scraped the gravel as I turned on the pavement toward Alfred's. I turned my bike in a series of directions until I reached the bike racks. I recognized some of the bikes as my friends’, all except for Miro, who rode a skateboard. I took off my helmet and tossed it aside, jogging into the store. When I walked in, I saw the familiar purplish color of Corey's hair. She was in the fruit section looking at some oranges. “Corey!” I yelled, loud enough for some of the other people around me to look up. She turned around and looked at me through her round metal glasses. “Hey,” I walked towards her as she spoke. “What's up? Carmen said you'd be late, but forgot to tell us why.” She said. “Oh. I slept in. My bad. Uh, do you know where everyone else is?” I asked. “Uh, I think Miro and Torin went to grab energy drinks and popcorn, Carmen went looking for cookies, and I don't know where Midori went.” She exclaimed. “Okay. Thanks." I walked down the aisles, searching for the chips. Alfred’s had gotten renovated a few weeks ago, and I was still getting used to the new organization of the store. I finally found Miro and Carmen arguing in the cheese section at the end of the aisle. Corey stood right between them, seemingly trying to resolve the conflict. I grabbed the Cheetos and started walking in their direction. As I got closer, I heard part of what they were saying. Carmen was blowing up at Miro for calling Corey something. She always did this. Miro pushed part of his light blue and blonde hair aside, looking at her mockingly. I approached them at the height of the argument. “Just don't call her that, you idiot! She doesn't like it!” Carmen yelled in his face. “Carmen, stop. I can speak for myself, I don’t need you to stand up for me like I can’t do it myself.” Corey spoke in a calm tone. Miro seemed amused. “So, I'm assuming Miro called Corey a name again? What was it this time?” I asked. Miro came up with nicknames for Corey to make Carmen mad, and it was kind of funny sometimes because they were so stupid. “He called me Harry Potter, which isn’t even insulting. I don't really know why you call me that.” “It's because you do look like Harry Potter, only if he was obsessed with Hot Topic and BL manga.” Miro said, and Corey laughed. “You think I look like him? I'm surprised you didn’t call me Ron before I dyed my hair and stopped using contacts, because those things are so stupid. Strange how I can have such a glow up.” Corey said, still laughing. “Oh, I thought it.” Miro snickered. Carmen on the other hand did not look amused, but kept her mouth shut. Midori came up to us from the right holding some sushi and brownies. “I could hear you guys from the front of the store. It was mostly Miro and Carmen I could hear, but still. Do you guys ever chill?” “Get a load of this chick.” Miro smirked. Midori glared daggers at him through her ginormous pink sunglasses, which were shaped like stars. “I told you not to call me a chick, you jerk.” She said, brushing aside her shaggy black wolfcut. Miro stuck his tongue out at her. Suddenly, Torin came hurrying up to us, with his dark curly hair and dinosaur hat. “Miro!” He huffed irritably, catching his breath. “Oh, hey, Torin. Come to join the Let’s all be mad at Miro party?” Miro replied, raising an eyebrow. Torin made a pout. “No, but you could’ve waited for me. I turned around to grab your Monster, and suddenly you were four isles away.” He replied shortly, causing Miro to roll his eyes, but stay silent nonetheless. “Does everyone have their stuff? We need to practice.” Corey said. Everyone looked around. “So…yeah?” Everyone nodded. “Okay, cool lets go.” The ride back to the cabin was brief. Miro almost fell off his skateboard talking to Torin at least three times. He hates Torin's parents’ guts because they hardly ever even acknowledge he's there. Honestly, I hate Torin's parents too. They're kind of rude and praise his sister for every little thing she does, but barely acknowledge Torin's amazing grades, and all the other awesome stuff he does. Once we pulled three all-nighters in a row at the cabin and he said when he got home, his parents thought he was in his room the whole time. It's like his sister is the sun and he's Pluto. Excluded from the solar system, outshined by the sun’s immaculate light. Once we made it to the cabin, Carmen sat down at the drum set, Corey grabbed the electric guitar, and handed Miro the bass. Torin turned on the piano and I grabbed a microphone stand for myself. Midori sat in her usual broken swivel chair, kicking her platforms onto the table in front of her and popping open a Dr Pepper. She technically was in charge of lighting, but we all knew she was just there for the food. Miro groaned as he tuned his bass, turning the pegs as his blue bangs fell in front of his face. He blew them away irritably. “Why don’t you cut your hair, if it annoys you that much?” Carmen asked as she twirled around a drumstick in her fingers. Miro retaliated, “Why don’t you cut your hair?” Carmen grimaced. “No, I like my hair.” “I rest my case, princess.” “Don’t call me-” “This is comedy gold, but if you haven’t noticed, we’re here to play.” I interjected. Torin and Corey exchanged a look, as if saying, These idiots. “You almost done tuning it?” Torin asked Corey as she fiddled with the pegs on her electric guitar. She hummed in response, so I took it as a yes. “Midori, weren’t you supposed to babysit tonight?” I asked. She looked up from trying to take off the soda tab off her Dr Pepper. “Nah, that’s tomorrow, Axel. I’ll be babysitting because my fosters are going to this stupid meeting for Haruto’s school.” She replied. “Can’t ya just call them your parents? I get confused.” Miro mumbled. Midori glared at him. “Man, shut up and play your stupid little ukelele.” We played a couple drafts of a new song Corey’s been writing called “Broken Pieces” after that. Then we stopped for a little water break, my throat a bit raw from singing. I liked the tune of the song and the lyrics. It might be her best song yet. It was starting to get dark out, though. I crossed the room and set my music on the table. Then I opened the fridge to get some water. “So my mom said my curfew for tonight was seven, so I have like, 10 minutes to bike 3 miles. I gotta go.” Carmen said as she picked up her drum sticks, headed toward the door, and started clipping her helmet on. “Uh huh, yup. Father, you leaving too?” Miro asked, addressing me as he spun a ring around his middle ringer.. So, that sounds a bit weird. To explain, Miro’s name, ironically, means peace. And mine means father of peace. So… Miro calls me dad or father. “Yeah,” I nodded. “Alright,” Torin smiled, biting into Chewy bar. “Hey, where’d ya get that??” Miro gasped. “The bag.” Torin chuckled. Miro leaped from the couch and rifled through it like a damn wolverine. “Holy crap, Miro, it’s just a CHEWY BAR.” “NO, Corey, it’s my LIFE source.” Miro snapped. I laughed as I picked up my helmet, leaving the cabin listening to their yelling. I unhitched my bike from the bike rack. I clipped on my helmet and hopped onto my bike. I was about to kick off my bike, but I realized I’d forgotten my sheet music. “Dang it,” I mumbled. I hopped off of it and went back into the cabin, using an entrance we never use. I think I left it near the back, and that it would be quicker to use that entrance. Besides, I didn’t wanna wreck their whole mood by going back in. I shoved the door open with a push. “Ow- What the-?” I said, heaving a breath. Wait a second, what the heck? This didn’t look familiar. I followed some steps up and found my sheet music. I could still hear the voices of the others. I went to leave, but I heard something. “Axel.” I almost jumped out of my skin. I felt myself go pale. “Carmen? Hello?” I asked, uneasy. I turned, but nobody was there. Just the old door we never went up to. Miro dared Corey to go up a few times, but she always chickened out or changed the subject. As I stared at it, I seemed to forget about my sheet music. I could’ve sworn I heard the voice. Because then I heard it again. And again. And again. My ears started ringing as my feet moved forward without asking permission from my brain first. I suddenly desperately wanted to get through that door. The splinter covered, dirty, old door. I swallowed, reaching for the handle, and swung the door open. I heard a screeching noise from behind me and turned around, alert. Suddenly I felt something pulling me into the doorway, like invisible hands pulling me back. I lost my grip on the door and felt my foot slip. I felt air underneath me. A pulsing rush of adrenaline acid coursed through me. I kept falling, and falling fast. But there was nothing to hit. There was no ground. I was falling into a pit of black. I was falling in an infinite void. that's all for chapter one! hope you like it! ill be comeing out with chapter two soonish. I hope this docent take me like a month. lmk what you think!
