Random aroace experience/question/rant idrk

Summary for people that don’t like reading: People treat saying I love you like a really big deal in media and social norms and it p*sses me off. People assume things when friends say it to each other and friend In medi never say it which it is treated like.a big deal in romantic couples. I just really don’t understand it as an aroace person As an aroace person there are a few things that I just don’t understand about alo people (people who are not Aron or ace spec). The biggest one being WHY THE ACTUAL HECK PEOPLE CANT SAY I LOVE YOU. Like this genuinely p*sses me off so much. Why is telling a person you love them a big deal and why is it weird to say that to anyone other than a romantic partner or your family most of the time. Like I end almost every conversation I have with my friends with an “I love you” if I remember. Like love is not just romantic it CAN BE platonic! What really annoys me is that people that don’t know me assume that me and my best friend are dating because I tell her I love her. Like we are both aroace and have no interest in each other but people just assume we are dating because we love each other. Like you tell your parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and grandparents you love them that doesn’t mean you are dating them. And don’t get me started on media. Like almost every tv show with romance has a big moment where the couple say I love you for the first time, and I have never understood why. You shouldn’t be dating someone you don’t love in my opinion so why is it a big deal. There are also times I get so annoyed when friends don’t say I love you to each other. My favorite book in the world is project Hail Mary and through the entire book I was waiting for a moment where Grace tell rocky he loves him or vice versa. BUT IT NEVER HAPPENS!!! Not when they become each other’s only friends, not when almost die together, not even when they think they will never see each other again!! Like you have no idea how much this annoyed me after I read the book, quite literally my only complaint. SO SORRY for the very long rant I just need to know if anyone else feels this way. Also question for strait or really just any alo people. Do you feel like saying “love you” is a big deal or not? I really want to know if this is just a me thing or not 😭
