World's Most Expensive Joke

You know that super expensive banana taped to the wall artwork that people love to meme on? It is an artwork titled "Comedian" by Maruizio Cattelan. The people who bought the work, aren't actually buying the banana and the duck tape, but instead the "idea" of the work along with instructions on how to create it and a certificate of authenticity. My personal interpretation of the piece based on its name, and knowing that Cattelan often has a sense of humor with his work, is that it is poking fun at the ridiculousness of things rich people will buy, and what's funny is art like this can increase in value because the rich people know they're being made fun of. There's other examples of art made to give a middle finger to the art world like this if you ever need an interesting rabbit hole to jump into. I learned about this kind of art in art history class back in college. This particular piece has been used to try and promote cryptocurrency by one of its buyers in recent years, and it makes me have a bit of mixed feelings about the art, but I still appreciate the original artist's concept, and I feel like it is still valid art despite what many people may try to argue. It feels to me like a middle finger to everyone who thinks they can decide what is or is not "good" art. Works like this give me kind of a warm fuzzy feeling, that any act of conscious creation is art, and that even if you can only draw stick figures, it's still art because YOU created it with your own hands and your own mind, and it's still valid. It's also a wonderful message to think about especially in these times.
