fuse beads are cool. they can get Cooler

Step 1

Materials - Fuse bead supplies - Anti-static tweezers - PVC ironing sheet or another shiny ironing surface - Glitter The shiny ironing paper is highly reccommended, using regular wax paper won't make it explode but it does dampen the shine of the glitter

Step 2

Make Fuse Beads Start by making your piece and removing it from the pegboard, using the tape method because it helps to catch loose glitter later.

Step 3

First Pass Iron + Glitter!!!!!!! You do not want to flatten your piece entirely, just increase the surface area a little bit so that the glitter doesn't fall into the space between the beads. I find that the extra fine glitter distributes itself much better this way, but it's also useful for more specific placement of chunky glitters.

Step 4

Second Pass Iron Now, you can iron your piece the rest of the way and do the back if you like to do that. (I find ironing both sides makes fuse bead pieces much sturdier no matter what materials you use to finish them!)

Step 5

Cool your fuse beads however you want to, there are many cool ways to explore and all of the ones i tried are compatible with this method. Make a glittery bracelet by carefully curling the hot perler around a heat-resistant cup, or earrings out of mini fuse beads maybe? The heat helps seal the glitter into the smooth plastic layer, so it doesn't come off if it's adequately heated. I tried, with the little sharp tweezers I use lol. I would say these are mess-free if you don't consider the process, but luckily the tape method will save your workspace a little bit :) You don't need to credit me when using this unless you want to link back to the tutorial so others can use it. I think the techniques that spring up from many people building on culminative experience are so awesome, and I'm just glad to participate in that ^^
