an easy spiked collar! you can use alpha beads (hearts, stars, etc) for the spikes if you wanted to! inspo from @ itswhackyadoodletime on kandipatterns, please go check out his stuff note : this is a photo tutorial i posted onto my insta (@bubble.ow0) in september of 2023, im just reposting it here in hopes that more people would enjoy it! PLEASE DONT REUPLOAD OR REPOST ON HERE OR ANY OTHER APP!
Step 1
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) tie your string onto your end, whatever clasp you wanna use is fine, im using mini belt buckles because thats what works for me, make sure to leave some room on there though because you will be knotting more string onto it later
Step 2
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) now start putting your beads on, you can do different colors this is just what im going for important : start and end with two beads because if you dont then later when we do the spikes itll get a little fuckie wuckie at the end but anyways we are basically putting two beads on wither piece of string, and then one bead on both strings, and repeating that until you reach how long your neck is
Step 3
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) tip : keep everything tight as you work, pause every couple of beads to make sure its all snugly together, once it gets loose is when the beads tend to loose their shape i also make sure that the string on top stays there (and vice versa), because, at lest for me, when the string starts to twist it also causes the beads to twist and loose their shape and i just dont like dealing with it
Step 4
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) more tips!! hold the length up to your neck to see if it fits right, my neck is roughly 16 inches, which means 14 spikes around thatll make more sense in the next couple steps, but thats why you can make a couple to figure out what works for you
Step 5
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) once you have reached the ideal length for your neck tie the string to the other side of your clasp, again im using a mini belt buckle lol please please please double check that you are ending on two beads on either side!!
Step 6
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) add another long piece of string, make sure this one is loooons, this is where you can fill in those gaps you left beforehand (in the clasp), make sure the string is snugly around your clasp n stuff then you can thread either one of those strings through those first two strings, as shown
Step 7
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) next put those two strings through the one bead next to it, its also important to keep the top string on the top and vice versa, this is where the string twisting will get the most annoying this is also where we are going to start the fun part
Step 8
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) spike time!!! add five beads onto these two strings, they can be whatever colors you wants, these are just what im doing again please make sure to keep your strings straight, no twisting
Step 9
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) now put those two strings into the next single bead, skipping over those two beads in the middle
Step 10
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) and pull that as tight as you can, this tension is gonna create those spikes! its basically the same thing youd do on a xbase cuff!
Step 11
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) and then put the top string through the top bead, and the bottom string through the bottom one, as shown and from here youre back at where we started, and you can repeat the last couple steps for the next spikes, making your way around the entire length as youre going, again please keep your strings straight, its always better to double check it at every step than having to go back and undo your work!!
Step 12
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) once you get to the end, tie off your string tip : tie the knot on the outside of your clasp, that way it wont scratch against your neck!
Step 13
(text in photo, please reference the pic!) also yes it is normal for it to try to turn into a snail, i just straighten it out before i wear it
thanks for checking this out! this was the first photo tutorial i had made at the time, so if you need clarification for any step please feel free to ask! ill be posting the other few i have made over the last couple years, so please check those out too!
