hii!! in this tutorial, i will showcase how to do an odd peyote stitch. while the one shown here is odd, you can apply this knowledge to make an even one as well. you will need: string (preferably fabric covered elastic) beads optional: pattern (this is just to help, you don't actually need this, but its nice if you are looking to get something exactly. i just freehanded mine and didn't use a pattern, though i do for others.)
Step 1
first, get your string. it can be however long you want, though you may need to tie more string on later. i like to use fabric covered elastic string, as in my opinion, it works the best.
Step 2
now, find the BIGGEST part in your pattern. if your pattern shrinks and gets bigger, start at the bigger side. if the shrinking and getting bigger happens more than once, you will have to separate your pattern into pieces and stitch them together later. place 2 beads onto your string. (opposite sides)
Step 3
next, place 1 bead onto your strings (both of them!!)
Step 4
repeat until your desired length. tie it off! if your pattern ends on a 1 bead and not a 2, refrain from tying as the bead will just slide off the string. temporarily tape the other string down and use the other to continue working on your project, tie it off later.
Step 5
now, start adding the other beads! the image shown above shows you how to do so.
Step 6
this part WILL become handy later. when you notice that there isn't another top bead to thread your next bead through (as shown in picture 1) follow the picture above. you will place the end bead on your string, loop your string through beads 1 and 2. pull tight, and loop through beads 3 and 4. pull tight again until the seam hides itself between the beads, loop through your new end bead and continue step 5 as usual until you encounter this issue again.
Step 7
continue til your desired length!
Step 8
continue steps 5-7 on the bottom. this was my finished product!
