i really enjoy making Kandi, and the star is my favorite pattern! i don't have my beads on me right now, so i am resorting to drawing it out. i'm a very visual oriented person, so i hope this assists others as it does for me ^_^
Step 1
first, get 10 beads of your choice. this will be the center part of your star! (for the string, i recommend something slightly shorter than your arm length. it's better to have more than not enough!)
Step 2
next, pull it tight, and tie it at least 3 times to make sure it won't come loose later! (before tying, make sure that both sides of the string are somewhat even by pulling them both up at the ends, then tying. a tighter star means a nicer structure!)
Step 3
now, pick your longer string, and place 3 beads of your choice on that string. count three beads ahead the one that your string came out of, and loop it through that bead. (if your point doesn't go to a point, you likely counted too far/put it thru the wrong bead.)
Step 4
repeat that process til you have 5 points, tie it off, cut the string, and you're done!! ^_^
