Step 1
Prepare the string: Fold your craft string or yarn in half, then Loop the folded end through the keychain ring then, Pull the two loose ends through the loop and tighten to secure the ring at the top of the fold.
Step 2
Make the nose: Place one bead in the center of the string, so the two sides are of equal length. Take one end of the string and thread it back through the bead in the opposite direction. Pull both ends of the string to tighten the bead against the keychain ring.

Create the head: Add the beads for the first row of the head (e.g., two main color beads) to one string. Take the other string and thread it backward through both of these beads. Thread the other string back through the eye beads and pull tight to form the eyes.
Step 4
make the front legs: Add beads for the legs and feet (e.g., two main color beads and three secondary color beads) to one string. Take the same string end and thread it back only through the first two leg beads you added, skipping the foot beads. Pull tight to form the leg shape, keeping the foot beads separate. Repeat the process for the other front leg on the other side of the lizard.
Step 5
make the body: Add a row of beads for the body to one string, according to your desired pattern. Thread the other string back through all the beads in that row. Pull tight to create the first row of the body. Continue adding rows, following your pattern for the body and tapering towards the tail.
Step 6
make the back legs: Repeat the process for the front legs to create the back legs, adding beads to one string and looping the same string back through the first few beads.
Step 7
make the tail and tie it off: Add one bead at a time to the end of the tail, threading both string ends through the bead and pulling tight. Tie a tight knot at the very end of the tail to secure everything. Trim any excess string.
